The first step is to go to the People’s Bank website and locate the open account link located under the log in area.
The site will take you to step by step through the entire process and depending on your reading and typing speeds should take you about 20 minutes.
Once you have completed the process, you will need to be approved, just as if you went in person. Approval can take up to 48 hours (business days, weekends and holidays excluded).
Upon approval, you will fund your opening balance and receive a detailed email about logging in with your member ID (you will create this along the way during the initial sign up process).
From there, you will be able to use the website to log into your account for all of your financial needs.
Logging In to the Website
After your account is approved and you have funded the account, you will be able to head to the main login page of the website where you will enter your member ID followed by the password when prompted.

As long as the member ID and password match the records stored securely in the bank’s database, you will be logged into your account summary dashboard.
From there, you can select the reason for logging in, which can be a money transfer, bill pay, account viewing or to access one of the may help features available.
Mobile Banking
Once you have your account set up and have logged into the account through the website, you will be offered the opportunity to utilize the bank’s mobile banking app. You can download the app on your Android or iOS device from their respective stores for free.

The login information will be the same as it is on the website, and once logged in you will have access to the same features and help on the computer as you will on your mobile device.
The mobile app is a great way to manage your finances on the go, or from anywhere you happen to be. You can even use the app to locate bank branches for in-person activities or find the closest ATM for your use.
Once You Are Logged In
After you have created your account and you have logged into the website you will be presented with many options for all of your banking needs. Assuming you have set up a checking account, you will have access to most banking features.

Obviously, if you have signed up for a loan account, you will have access to different features that deal primarily with your loan and loan repayment options.
For the Checking account, though, you will be able to see your account activity as well as any pending deposits or pending transactions.
If you have the People's Bank debit card, you will also be able to dispute any issues or report a lost or stolen card.
You will also be able to enact online bill payments or expedited payments through your online portal. This will allow you to set up a one-time or recurring bill payment for virtually any account you need to pay. This can be any debt owed, including florists, energy bills, rent or other online merchant payments.
You will also be able to see, edit and access any of the devices that have the mobile app linked to your account. This is a handy tool to enable or disable access in the event you have lost your mobile device, or have a new device and forgot to delete the app from the old one.
Next, you will be able to manage your digital alerts. You can have emails or text messages sent for a variety of reasons, including deposits, large transactions or account balance thresholds. If you don’t want these alerts, you can turn them off (or back on) at any time through the portal.
You will also be able to download your account activity to your money management software. This download is in Quicken format. If you do not use Quicken, you should ensure that your software can read QIF and QIX files.
You will also have the opportunity to download the activity in a CSV format of your software accepts those, as an alternative.
Finally, you will be able to set, delete and edit account names. If you have multiple accounts, multiple payees or just like to give fancy nicknames to things, you can do so right from the website. If you want to name your checking account “Steve,” for example, you can do so after logging in.
You will also want to look at your settings to end paper statements from going to your mailbox. You can opt to go paperless, which is highly recommended, to get your alerts and account activities sent to your email in the digital form.
In Conclusion
Accessing the People’s United Bank is as easy as going to the website and entering your member ID and password.
You will first need to create an account, have the account approved and fund the account. Once you have done all of that, though, you will have access to an entire digital banking experience right from your computer.
If you require more mobile-friendly options, you can also download the mobile app to your mobile phone or tablet to have access to your accounts and overview at any time from anywhere.
The log in process is quick and easy, and your information can even be saved, so you don’t have to enter it every time. Or, if you want to disable the remember function for security reasons, you can do that as well.
People's United Bank gives you options to manage your finances as you see fit and the process to access these options is user-friendly, painless and simple to set up.
